What is ORAC and why is it important to our health?

ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) is a significant, industry standardized test, adopted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), to measure the total antioxidant potency of foods and nutritional supplements. ORAC values measure the capacity of a food to absorb oxygen free radicals.

The USDA recommends a Daily Antioxidant Intake Range of 3,000 to 5,000 ORAC (or units of antioxidant). However, recent studies suggest that more active lifestyles require higher levels of antioxidants.
